Shouts to SAgE Sammamish Valley Student Farm for a strong showing at the farm stand this week. This amazing program — a collaboration between Edmonds, Skagit, and Seattle Colleges — helps aspiring agrarians learn small farming, food systems, and urban agriculture. They help supply their campus culinary programs with produce direct from the farm, and go beyond veggies to learn about raising critters like sheep and ducks. Whatever their curriculum is, it’s definitely working! Check out their Swiss chard, heirloom summer squash, and Baltic red kale at your neighborhood ROAR stand this week.

Our consortium of (other) farmer friends are also bringing you broccoli two ways, the first of the peaches (!) and crisp, snappy English cukes. Here’s what else is hot for mid-July:
