This week is a big one for ROAR, full of early-season delights. We open in Rainier Beach on Tuesday, 6/13, and can’t wait to see our Rose St. neighbors again! You get two chances to catch us in Beacon Hill — once at our regular Thursday market 6/15, and again on Saturday 6/17 at the Station Block Party. ROAR will be there with the smoothie bike (!), sharing space with Kamayan Farm and celebrating everything good about South Seattle. Festival is free and all-ages, so make time to come through.
On to the veggies: Farm Stand this week features strawberries from Skagit Valley’s Viva Farms, an incubator supporting beginning farmers in our region. Also back is asparagus from Alvarez Organics, and perhaps our favorite seasonal delight — garlic scapes — also from Viva. That beautiful lettuce in the picture is lovingly grown by Beacon Hill’s Nurturing Roots Farm and could be yours today. Shop early and shop often for these delicious, time-limited offerings!
Effective Thursday, we’ll have Pink Lady apples, cherries, and more snap peas; until then, here’s the fresh list:
Tuesday – 4-7pm – Rainier Beach, Rainier Ave S & S Rose St.
Thursday – 3-6pm – The Station Coffee Shop, 16th Ave S & S Lander St.
Friday – 4-6pm – Hillman City, Rainier Ave S & S Orcas St.
